IV. BAYAN O SARILI?

"Bayan O Sarili?"

 

Jerold Tarog a multi awarded director once again caught the sambayanans attention for making another work of art. The movie about our historic Heneral Luna.

 

In the movie, Heneral Luna was portrayed by veteran actor John Arcilla.  

At first I had no interest in watching the movie. but I was intrigued by the social media posts saying that it was a really great movie, that its worth the watch. My curiosity pushed me go out and watch the movie. 

After seeing the movie, I can say that Mr. Tarog really did a great job! 

Heneral Luna was the only real general that our country had, although he was boastful and aggressive for taking over his role. He was doing it for our country, he was wholeheartedly serving our Inang Bayan. and we filipinos are the ones who killed him, we killed our own way to freedom.

He was willing to fight for the freedom of our country even if it means getting himself killed.

"BAYAN O SARILI?"   

Heneral Antonio Luna is a true hero. willing to die for the freedom of his fellowmen. 

"Kung buhay man ang kapalit para sa Kalayaan ng Bayan, handa akong iaalay ang buhay ko para sa kalayaan ng mas nakakararami, para sa aking bansa."

 

In the movie's ending it showed how Heneral Luna and Ramon was being dragged by the kawit soldiers, and one of the things I learned about this movie is the real meaning of the Juan Luna's painting "Spolarium".

After years and years of learning it over and over again in art class. I finally understand its true meaning.
